Negara

Negara is a small city located in the South west region of Bali, and is one of the island’s gems waiting to be discovered by travellers.

The reason for this is that few tourists flock to the city, and this is in spite of the alluring attractions that dot the city’s landscape. Even as the least toured part of Bali, it is interesting to note that the city’s charm draws travellers who would want to go off the beaten track.

Quite a bit of Negara’s vegetation is dense forests and the rolling hills located at the West Bali National Park create a natural aura that is hard to ignore. The most fascinating thing about this park perhaps, is that it is the only national park across Bali. The park is home to numerous bird species, and certainly is heaven for bird watchers. Fauna at the park include wild cattle, leopards, boars and the Indian Muntjac deer.

The remaining part of the village is relatively flat, and has high soil fertility that allows rice to thrive on the island. Terraced rice paddies are a beauty to behold, and the verdant nature of the rice farms attracts visitors to get a glimpse of the staple food in Bali.

To get to the city, you would have to use the main coastal that connects Denpasar and Gilimanuk. Buses traveling between these two locations pass through the village. For visitors who opt to drive themselves, it is important to note that the main road is quite busy owing to heavy traffic from Java. On arrival, visitors can get around easily using hired cars.
