Celebrating New Year’s Eve in Bali is one of the best experiences as the island becomes a massive party for those holidaying here.

There are many ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Bali with food, drink, music and fireworks, from a sunset cocktail to a fancy dinner to dancing the night away in a club. There are so many ways to celebrate in Bali.

One of the most popular locations for New Year’s Eve celebrations is Kuta. Kuta is a vibrant coastal town whose aura comes alive with loud parties, fun party-goers and a combination of music and dance. Sample any of the pubs and restaurants to catch all the action, and there will also be plenty of people down on the beach listening to live music while relaxing with a few drinks. Kuta will be at the action’s epicentre on New Year’s Eve.

If you want to avoid the massive crowds but still head out on the town, head to Seminyak, which is a little more laid back than Kuta. Here, you can enjoy dinner in a restaurant before hitting some bars along the beach to watch the fireworks at midnight. Sip a cocktail on the beach as you watch the sun go down and listen to some live music on the beach. There are usually fireworks held on Seminyak beach at midnight.

Puputan Badung Square also offers a fun party from early afternoon to late evening as carnivals and parades are held here, followed by fireworks that finish the night.

Some venues will charge a cover charge (such as the famous Potato Head) ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 IDR, so check the venue and make a booking if necessary as they book out.

Fireworks will be held at various locations throughout Bali, but Bali doesn’t always run on a tight timetable. Plan for fireworks at midnight, but don’t be surprised if there are numerous displays at night (or not!)

It is also important to note that New Year’s Eve falls during Bali’s peak tourist season, so you should book your flights and accommodation early to avoid disappointment.
