Bali Car Rental with a Driver – Luxury & Long Term Hire Cars
Just note that driving in Bali is not like driving in western countries as the roads can be very congested and in poor repair. There is a high proportion of scooters and motorcycles in Bali, which makes driving a little more treacherous for car drivers. Ensure you have full insurance which covers damage to the car.
As a matter of law, Indonesia requires any person driving a car or scooter to have a valid licence. This would require that you obtain an international drivers licence before driving in Bali. These can be obtained in Australia from NRMA RACV/RACQ etc, outlets and costs around $25 AUD. This is also important in case you are involved in an accident. If you have an accident and were not the holder of a ‘valid’ licence to drive in Indonesia, then your insurance company may not insure you.
If you prefer to not have to drive yourself or are looking for a car rental for a larger group, then there are a number of private drivers that you can hire who will be on call to drive you all around the island. Typically, you can hire a car driver in Bali for around 500,000 – 700,000 IDR ($50-70 AUD) per day which means that you can dictate your own schedule without having to take a tour full of other tourists.
