Travelling to Bali need not cost a fortune, particularly as there are so many cheap accommodation options all over the island.

The best thing about Bali is the price and you need not compromise on quality just because you can’t afford a luxury private villa.

As a general guide, one of the ways to get cheap Bali accommodation is to tour like a local. This may mean arriving on the island without any set plans and simply approaching some of the hostels and guesthouses to see what is available at the last minute. It is not uncommon to be able to find cheap accommodation for under $10 per night.

Typically, hostels and backpack hotels tend to offer the most affordable rates. The cheapest period to visit Bali is during the low season (January to June) when the island’s main attractions are not jam-packed with tourists.

If you would prefer to book ahead, there are a number of hotels and bungalows which offer cheap rates in Kuta, Seminyak, Ubud and so many other popular locations around the island. Most cheap accommodation still offers comfortable beds, fans/air conditioning, on site bars/restaurants as well as modern bathrooms.
